Fort Worth Stockyards

Once referred to as the Wall Street of the West, the Fort Worth Stockyards is an area rooted deeply in Texas history. In the 19th century, cattle drivers from all over the territory would drive their cattle to the stockyards, commonly called Cowtown in those days, to be shipped by the Union railroad. During World War II, the Stockyards saw an all time of over 5-million livestock processed through the facility. Unfortunately after the war, and the rise of the trucking industry, the need for transporting cattle via the railroad declined, and so did the popularity of Cowtown. Today, some of Beyond Smiles’ favorite shops, bars, and hotels populate the historically rich area and provide exciting opportunities for people of all ages.
